Help Us Revive the Heart of Our Democracy!

This election is about the direction of our country and the future of our Democracy. It isn't just candidates on the ballot, it's the issues they will fight for. This election is about health care, voting rights, public education, environmental protections, police reform, equal protection under the law and justice for women, immigrant communities, the LGBTQ community, and so much more.

We are fighting to revive the heart of our democracy and to ensure that every voice is heard and every vote counts. But we need your help.

Early Voting lasts until November 5th and Election Day is on November 8th. Can you help get people to the polls?

Early Voting for the June Special Primary

May 26th to June 4th

Click here to find the Early Voting locations in your county

The June Primary is very important. Republicans and Democrats will pick their candidates to be on the November ballot for the Congressional race and for the NC Supreme Court. While some Congressional districts have only one candidate for US House of Representatives, everyone will be voting for the Supreme Court seat where there are 4 candidates running. The NC Supreme Court decides important issues that impact you!

Help Us Spread the word!

Now is the time to make sure your community knows about the upcoming election! There is a new handout that features information about the special June 7th primary, with photos of the 4 candidates running for the NC Supreme Court and with descriptions of Congressional primary contests. You can help spread the word by passing out the Special Election Handout in your workplace, faith center, organizational meeting or community event. Email it to your friends and family. We can't sit any election out! Here in NC we know that courts matter, especially when we are facing the avalanche of unconstitutional laws passed by extremists in the NC General Assembly.

Click here to download the Special Election Handout

We encourage you to download the handout and make copies. However, if you or your organization has the capacity to distribute 200 or more in the next few weeks, send your name, email, phone, mailing address, quantity desired, and name(s) of congregation, community center, or places where you’d distribute the handout to and Democracy NC will send you a packet.

The District lines for who represents you in the U.S. House of Representatives recently changed because the US Supreme Court found that two of the previous districts were racially gerrymandered.

It's Our Time! It's Our Vote!

We are approaching an historic election year. North Carolina has suffered from a flood of immoral and unconstitutional policies supported and passed by our Governor and General Assembly over the past four years. This extreme and regressive agenda has hurt ALL North Carolinians. They have voted to deny us healthcare, defund our schools, suppress our votes, raise taxes on the poor, deny us equal protection under the law, hurt our environment, and more. Now it is our time to vote.

If you believe that an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere; if you understand that what happens in North Carolina has implications for the future of the nation; if you are committed to building a moral movement to save the soul of our state and country, then we need you to get involved in the Forward Together Moral Movement's It's Our Time, It's Our Vote GOTV campaign.

A Get-Out-The-Vote campaign can only bring us closer to a true democracy if it is long-term, issue-based and contextualized within on-going organizing to hold elected officials accountable once they take office. In a climate of voter suppression and spreading extremist ideology, our GOTV efforts must be comprehensive and include voter education, registration, mobilization, and protection. We must build an organizing infrastructure that will last far beyond 2016.

The North Carolina NAACP is partnering with Democracy North Carolina, faith leaders, and other HKonJ Coalition partners to organize local It's Our Time Get-Out-The-Vote committees across the state and mobilize over 3,000 faith communities to participate in It's Our Time Souls to the Polls campaign.

If you as an individual, your organization, or your faith community would like to get involved in the It's Our Time, It's Our Vote campaign, please email and write "It's Our Time" in the subject line.

The 2016 Election is an important election for North Carolina. Positions up for election include:

President & Vice President of the US
Senior U.S. Senator
All US House of Representatives
All NC House of Representatives
All NC Senate Members
