Respect Our Vote People's Assembly!

Our Elected Officials have used the pain and suffering of North Carolina hurricane and forest fire victims to release a flood of extremist laws. The people are fighting back.

The NC General Assembly has gone too far. They came to Raleigh under the pretense of protecting NC hurricane and forest fire victims but have now filed over 20 bills, including unprecedented laws that strip Governor-elect Roy Cooper of executive powers, hurt public education, create gridlock in the state and county boards of elections and circumvent the will of the people, and do further harm to the people of our state. Extremists in the legislature are upset about the outcome of our election and are trying to maintain their control.

The people of North Carolina will not take this. We demand that they respect our vote, end this Session and stop attacking our democracy.

Join us at 3:30 p.m. if you would like to participate in a non-violence and direct action training before the People's Assembly. Email for more information.

News Conference with NC Flood Victims About Surprise Special Session

RSVP on Facebook

Join with the North Carolina NAACP, North Carolina Voters for Clean Elections, Progress NC, and flood victims as we gather at the General Assembly to urge our lawmakers, those who were elected to govern for the good of the whole, to stop their attempt to use disaster relief and the pain of thousands of North Carolinians to push through measures that strip Governor-elect Roy Cooper of executive powers, that hurt public education, and that do further harm to the people of our state.

The House of Representatives and the Senate filed over 20 bills this evening during the surprise special session that began today at 2:00 p.m. Lawmakers were called to Raleigh under the pretense of disaster relief but instead they have exploited the tragedy of thousands of North Carolinians to ram a partisan power grab through a surprise special session.

“My family is still recovering from the flooding, and some of our neighbors lost everything they had,” said Sean Yarborough of Robeson County. “We are pleading with lawmakers not to exploit our suffering by using us as political pawns in their blatantly partisan schemes while they’re supposed to be helping us rebuild.”

We will be here late. Join us!

The Senate will reconvene at 4:45 p.m. and the House will reconvene at 5:00 p.m. We expect to be here very late. Tell your friends and family to join us at the NC General Assembly, 16 W. Jones St. Bring your signs and your chanting voice!

Urgent! Call Tim Moore & Phil Berger

We're hearing that extremist leaders will propose at least two bills to undermine the will of the voters by moving certain powers, functions, and possibly even whole departments, under the control of their friends and out of the control of Governor-Elect Roy Cooper.

It's time again to flood the lines and make sure legislative leaders know you oppose any and all power grabs that undercut duly-elected officials. Call now:

Senate Pro Tempore Phil Berger

House Speaker Tim Moore

You can use this language from our friends at Democracy North Carolina when you call:

Many are predicting legislative leaders will use this surprise special session for devious power grabs that remove appointment powers from Governor-Elect Roy Cooper, in addition to other plots to maintain control at all levels of government. Efforts to politicize these functions and inject partisanship sends a strong message to voters like me that the system is rigged. Can I count on you to oppose any and all power grabs that undercut duly-elected officials?

A 2nd Special Session Was Just Called and We Need You Here!

We Call For Disaster Relief Not Disastrous Deception

We came out in hundreds yesterday, now it's time to come back. The NC General Assembly just called a second Special Session to begin today at 2:00 p.m. The only information we have been given by leaders of the House and Senate is that it is "concerning any matter the General Assembly wants to consider." There are rumors that they will try to pass a number of measures to limit to power of future Governor Roy Cooper.

We urgently need people to come to the NC General Assembly, 16 W. Jones St. Raleigh, by 2:00 p.m.
